United Faculty is a chartered chapter of the California Teachers Association (CTA), an affiliated local of the Community College Association (CCA), and an affiliated local of the National Education Association (NEA). What each affiliation gives our members:
- CTA — California Teachers Association. CTA charters our chapter, ratifies our bylaws on a five-year review cycle, and provides the legal, organizing, and bargaining infrastructure that backs every UF action. CTA staff support our negotiations, our grievances, and our elections; CTA-mandated procedures govern how we run our chapter. Our current CTA staff representative is Brian Eldridge.
- CCA — Community College Association. CCA is the higher-education arm within CTA, representing 42 community college districts statewide. CCA does not bargain or process grievances directly; it provides training, advocacy, and statewide community-college voice. Members access CCA conferences (the Bargaining/Advocacy/Membership cycle), the Bargaining and Grievance Academies, and CCA-funded developmental grants.
- NEA — National Education Association. NEA is the largest labor union in the world. NEA membership connects UF members to a national network of educators across every level, from preschool through higher education, and to legal-defense and professional-liability protections that follow members across districts and states.
