Title II Digital Accessibility: Training Pay and Scope
May 13, 2026

Federal Title II accessibility requirements now extend to all institutional digital communications — not just classroom materials. Compliance requires training, time, and in many cases substantial course-redesign work. United Faculty's position is direct: faculty are entitled to compensation for required training and for the work compliance demands. We are demanding pay for the training.

This is being negotiated alongside Articles 17 and 18 (evaluations) where the District has tied online-course evaluation criteria to "substantial regular and effective contact" — a standard whose scope and documentation requirements are still being defined.

Members who are being asked to complete unpaid accessibility training, or whose course-redesign work is going uncompensated, should bring those concerns to their Grievance Rep. Documentation of the request and the time involved supports the bargaining record.
